Stephen Bowman has written an instructional booklet on the construction of a Bolster type Bobbin Lace pillow, with instruction on sewing the fabric cover and liner.  Plus there are instructions on building the cradle, which is the base for the pillow, out of wood.  This booklet can only be purchased through the Bedford College of Lace Making either on this site or at any event listed on the schedule page, with the noted exception of gourd shows.

Primitive Bolster Pillow

The Primitive Looking Bobbin Lace Pillow shown here is a Bolster type pillow measuring approxiamately 13 inches by 6 inches in diameter.  This pillow has been created to have a primitive or antique look to it.  The cradle is made from old barn wood and the cover of the pillow itself is made from 100% cotton.

Small Bobbin Lace Pillow

The Small Bobbin Lace Pillow shown here is a short Bolster type pillow measuring approxiamately 9 inches long by 6 inches in diameter and comes with a small cradle.  The cradle for this pillow has one unique feature of having holes drilled in it so that it can be pinned to the pillow for more stability.  This pillow is a one of a kind due to it being shorter than normal pillows used by the school in class work.

Red Checked Ring Pillow

The Red Checked Ring Pillow shown here is a Ring type pillow measuring approxiamately 8 inches long by 6 1/2 inches in diameter with a four inch opening size. This pillow is the last remaining pillow with an opening this small. Also this pillow comes with a stand called a "ladder" and can be used with or without it.

The Mini Green Ring Pillow shown here is a miniature Ring type pillow measuring approxiamately 4 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches in diameter with a 3 inch opening size. This pillow comes with a stand called a "ladder" and can be used with or without it.

The Skinny Fire Red Ring Pillow shown here is a slender Ring type pillow measuring approxiamately 4 inches wide by 9 inches in diameter with a 6 inch opening size.  This pillow comes with a stand called a "ladder" and can be used with or without it.  Please note that this pillow is a one of a kind, it was originally a commision piece for a client who ended up wanting a smaller pillow instead.  Yes, thats right, she went smaller!

Example of the Travel Pillow

The Travel Pillow shown here is a small French Roller type pillow measuring approxiamately 10 1/2 inches by 12 inches at the base and the roller is 6 inches long by 2 1/2 inches in diameter.  This pillow features a removable roller with wing nut screws that can tighten the roller in place.  Additional rollers can be purchased for this pillow.
